The National Capital Fund received 25 investment offers for creation of VC funds. Venture capital managers could apply for capital from the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme until January 31st, 2012.
Since August 2011 VC funds’ managers have submitted their applications within the announced tender of offers. The NCF has received 25 investment offers for recapitalization of new VC funds, which is the best result in the NCF’s history taking into consideration the ratio of submitted applications and offered capital. The NCF will spend for investments in funds not less than PLN 60 million from the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme.
‘The amount of submitted applications to the NCF is really impressive and confirms VC funds’ huge demand for capital. Taking into consideration present economic situation the SMEs could encounter a lot of problems with raising capital from banks, which will result in increase of demand for financial support from VC funds.' – says Piotr Gębala, President of the Management Board of the NCF. 'Strong interest in tender of offers can be perceived as a good sign for development perspective of VC market in Poland and increases the chance that in the near future Poland will approach the European average.' - adds Hubert Konarski, Member of the Management Board of the NCF.
Formal evaluation of lodged offers by the NCF will take up to a week and it will be proceeded by the evaluation concerning the substance. Funds focused on investments in innovative projects localized in Lubelskie, Podkarpackie, Świętokrzyskie and Małopolskie regions and the ones with great success potential on the market will be privileged. Funds selected by the tender of offers will support the SMEs with needed capital at the initial or expansion stage. VC funds focuses on the company’s equity increase providing it not only with capital, but also with knowledge and business experience, which will result in improvement of competitiveness of Polish SME market.
The completed receipt of offers is the fifth one announced by the NCF and the second one -financed by the Swiss government. VC funds established by the NCF in the second edition of the tender of offers within the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme will start their operating activities at the turn of 2012 and 2013.
